Berlin was one of those 'in-between' cities. It was a short, 48-hour rest stop on the way to a more, in my head, desirable destination. I could not have been more wrong.
A few highlights-
-Thai Park: a seasonal (& illegal), weekend food fair featuring Thai street food
-Markthalle: a very hip and very delicious food hall, with a regular rotation of vendors + themed foodie events
-Endless history, colorful street art, antiques markets, music venues, and good coffee spots.
If you have the opportunity to get to Berlin, take it!
Took a train and two sketchy buses from Kreuzberg, then waited in line for an hour--with lots of drunk/drinking people in the rain--but it was worth it. And bonus tip: send your friend to get curry fries, from the spot across the street, for sustenance while you wait.
